Happy Annunciation!

In honor of Our Lady and the Solemnity of the Annunciation, here is the antiphon to the Blessed Virgin during the season of Lent.

Ave Regina caelorum,
Ave Domina Angelorum:
Salve radix, salve porta,
Ex qua mundo lux est orta:
Gaude Virgo gloriosa,
Super omnes speciosa:
Vale, o valde decora,
Et pro nobis Christum exora.

Hail, Queen of heaven,
hail Lady of the angels.
Hail root and gate from which the Light of the world was born.
Rejoice glorious Virgin,
fairest of all.
Fare thee well, most beautiful,
and pray for us to Christ.

Pueri Cantores!

Last Wednesday I was privileged to play the organ for Mass with our diocesan bishop at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame. The event was a children's choir festival hosted by Federation Pueri Cantores. The guest conductor was Mr. Paul French, Director of Music at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish and director of the William Ferris Chorale in Chicago. More information about music at this well-known parish may be found by clicking on the new link in the "Church Music Links" section on the right-hand side of this blog.

Congratulations to all the students from our Catholic schools and many thanks to all the people who made the festival such a success.
