Preparing for Lent
I have just uploaded the liturgical music schedule for Lent 2011 at St. Vincent's. It may be viewed here. Similar to Lent 2010, this year there will be no organ preludes or postludes except for Lent IV because the Church asks us organists to minimize the use of the instrument during the penitential seasons. One addition to the Choral Mass at 8:30 each Sunday during Lent will be the proper Introit and Communion chants, sung in English. These additional texts will help us enter more deeply into the Sunday liturgies. The Gospel Acclamation for Lent, normally called the Tract, will be the text, "Praise and honor to you, O Lord Jesus Christ." The music is David Hurd's adaptation of the Kyrie from Missa Orbis factor (Mass XI; listen to the original here). The entire liturgical schedule for Lent and Easter is pending approval and will be posted here when it becomes available.
